Mark Yan

"Music was always surrounding me as a kid."

Mark's earliest influences were 8 years of classical piano. His older brothers' fascinations with folk music influenced his switch to guitar. "I have always loved guitar and singing and loved the coffee house scene in the Toronto area in the 1970's." In university he ran a coffee house at York University. His musical energy encompasses cover songs from the classics (Van Morrison, Neil Young, Simon and Garfunkel) of the 60's/70's era to his own singer/songwriter material reminiscent of the same era.

He plays in a duo now with Barry Mulcahy where the mix is soaring harmonies and upbeat guitar mixes in the folk-rock genre. They can also play classic songs from the 1920's/30's for seniors.
